​Whoever loves his life will lose it. Whoever hates his life will preserve it.

Where I am, there also my servant will be. Mary at the foot of the Cross was perfectly united to God, but she is also fully human. She witnessed the passion and death of Jesus with the human feeling of a mother for her child. Mary had to have these affections, yet she willed perfectly the will of the Father... for us. Mary never chose herself over god. When we put God at the center of our life, the Morning Star, at every moment we will know our direction. St. Lawrence shows the emperor the poor as the treasure of the Church. The poverty Christ wants us to have is to be rich in Him and poor in ourselves. The one who loses his life and gives his life to Christ, has already eternal life.
